I worked on the canopy frame some today. This dimension is supposed to be around 3/4". Clearly it has a long way to go. The frame is also a bit wide. I used a ratchet strap to slowly pull the sides together. There is a ton of spring in the bow, so it has to be displaced well beyond the amount it needs to move. I didn't take good pictures, but I eventually got it to move by about 1/2", and I have not yet re-measured the rear bow.
